Purchasing & Payroll: Don’t Show Me The Money – Part 2

Payroll

Payroll is the most important department in the company. It’s only because of Payroll that I exhume myself from under the warm duvet five days a week and trundle into the office. I cannot say that of any other department. If IT ceased to exist I’d still come to work. I’d just spend less time browsing handbags on eBay (for my girlfriend).

If Payroll ceased to exist I’d neither have the urge to come into the office nor the means to buy the fabulous beige leather Gucci bag with the clasp to die for. You go girlfriend. Sorry; I mean for my girlfriend.

Of course, Payroll has the unenviable task of dealing with everyone else. I received an email this week from graphic designer Amanda at HIS Daughter Studio, detailing a conversation she’d had with payroll.

Now that I am full time, will I still get my check on Fridays? I checked my bank acct, and it hasn’t posted yet, so I wasn’t sure. It used to post by early morning on Fridays.

Thanks,
Amanda

To which Payroll replied:

It’s not Friday.

I believe that’s what is commonly known as a “smack down”.

Call me crazy, but those Gucci bags just really bring something out in that jeep.

GI Joe could use a little bit of intervention from the Queer Eye Guys. I bet Gucci has a camo print, si?

Sounds like some one in payroll is on a power trip!

Ah yes, that regular (1x/month) paycheck is the only reason I continue to show up at the office, too. Although, being a government employee that paycheck has been considerably cut. I’m looking for a nice part time job so I can give my gov’t job to someone who will love the monotony of cube-land. Then I’ll be able to blog more! :)

I seriously think that G.I. Joe and Gucci bags should be working side-by-side. Besides, they both had G to begin with.

Payroll rocks! Girlfriend with handbags mob, not so..

Unless of course, you work for Queensland Health and they just couldn’t be assed paying you… for months. Hey, it’s not like our employees have mortgages, or need to eat right??? Sure, they can just wait til we’ve finished effing around with our shiny new payroll system…

If Fridays don’t land on Thursdays any more, why the Hell am I at work on a Tuesday?

Hi

Yes I completely agree with you, payroll is most certainly the most important department in a business. After all, we will find a way to live without other departments but we cannot substitute anything to getting paid!

What does everyone else think?

Best,

James Sneddon

If ya ever want to drive payroll absolutely nuts, find a way to keep from cashing a paycheck for awhile.

It’s nice to share my smack down with others. I hope it makes everyone feel better about their interactions with their own payroll department :)

Masters of the terse put down. I’d quake in my little boots.

That is the sweetest Gucci bag EVER. And a pretty funny reply from Payroll!

Good boyfriend.

Thanks for the invite.
The Bag would look awesome NEXT to the mahogany keyboard. I bet if you could get the ebay vendor to put an Office Max logo on top of your receipt you would have better luck getting purchasing to pay for the keyboard AND the bag!

Friday…what do you mean it’s not Friday? GI Joe totally rocks the bag. I mean it’s his colors and everything.

17 Kado! May 19, 2010 at 7:52 pm

it’s always “Friday” somewhere, right?…or is that 5 ‘o-clock….

18 screwdestiny May 19, 2010 at 11:19 pm

Oh man, that was hilarious. I would probably be a far bitchier person if I had to work in payroll.

I’m stuck on the T.F sign off from payroll. Could it be;
Till Friday (to inject a little lighthearted, ’see you on payday’ friendliness)
Thursday- Friday (as a much needed reminder of how the days of the week fall)
or just plain
Too Fucked (as in been working in this windowless, thankless office for so long that I am simply ‘too fucked’ to care for pleasantries)
…I wonder….

BWAHAHA! Oh Amanda… that sounds like something I would do… I feel your pain, and thanks for sharing :)
